On Sunday, Jan. 2, the eight-time Grammy nominee posted a series of Twitter messages revealing to her more than 90,000 followers that she intends to take an indefinite hiatus from music industry.
Her unedited Twitter posts read: "i'm making an official announcement that i am taking a break from music. i'm trying to figure out who i am... w/out a mike, paper or pen. i promised myself when it wasn't fun anymore i wouldn't do it. and here i am."
The Philadelphia-bred vocalist confessed the "break" wasn't a permanent one and thanked her fans for supporting her.
"i love u all and appreciate u soooooo much. u have no idea how much u've inspired me and fed my ego. but the truth is that i h
ave to believe in me whether you all do or not. and thats what i'm lookin for. that belief in myself. me. I. i love us. thanks for being here for me and riding with me on this journey. let us continue," she posted, via @jsullivanmusic.Though the 23-year-old's messages originally surfaced around 8 p.m. EST, several hours later the posts were removed without explanation.
An unreleased track, titled 'I'm Not a Robot,' which is produced by Salaam Remi (Amy Winehouse/Toni Braxton), then surfaced online around midnight.
The tune features lyrics similar to Sullivan's Twitter emotions as she sings: "I gotta get out of this program and find out who I really am/I'm not a robot...Somebody turn it off/please make it stop/I'm not a robot."
At press time, there was no statement from her label, J Records, which was still closed for holiday.
Sullivan, who was honored by Billboard magazine as the "Rising Star for 2010" in Dec., released her critically acclaimed sophomore CD, 'Love Me Back,' on Nov. 30.
The singer also has a role in the upcoming George Lucas' film 'Red Tails,' co-starring Terrence Howard, Tristan Wilds, Cuba Gooding Jr., Ne-Yo and Michael B. Jordan.

Her fan-base answers the question to why so many sisters are single. Nice voice and catchy tunes but I think she's running out of material.

I know when she visited my hometown a few years ago, the immature radio DJs here put her down about her weight. I wonder if she is struggling with her body image too.I know I don't like the way she is styled (hair/clothes). She needs better marketing & a better glam team around her to make her look her best no matter her body size. Vocally, I think she has it but it could be better. So as long as she works on her vocals, appearance & confidence, she can go far. I do understand her frustrations. Now a days Beyonce is the golden standard and if you don't come close, you have to find other ways to compete or get trampled over. As long as Jaz doesn't turn to drugs or choose suicide, let her take a break and know her real fans will be waiting. Good luck Jazmine

I was going to say the say thing? She needs better Marketing? I feel her weight is not the problem? If you have talent and a gift like her you don't have to be like this one or that one (Beyonce,ect..) Maybe she needs to do some collabos, try somethin different musically, and a new style? I am tired of the bustin of the damn window songs, tieing up your man and blowin him up in her videos? This woman to me doesn't really show or sing too many "Happy"or "Love Songs" that much? Maybe personally, she is going through some rough ISH? WHO KNOWS?
I hope she takes a vaca not a long BREAK? If it has to do with getting herself together mentally & Physically and finding who she really is than she should take a break and get back on the music scene. But as far as family, people in the business go through it everyday being apart, traviling, touring, concerts, apparences, ect.. with their loved ones but they stick it out and make sacrafices? Like you said, her fans are going to be dissapointed and she owes them that much to be back with hits, be COMMITTED, and to give her fans 100%!

I love her music, her appearance and I am upset at the thought of her taking a hiatus... a vacation is cool...but to stop making music...not fair to the fans, but these performers have personal lives too. I guess. Oh well... best wishes and hurry back Jaz!

Look, she hasn't been in the music scene LONG ENUF to say "Hey I need to take a BREAK and to figure out who she is"? The woman seems to be having some mental issues to announce something like that PUBLICLY? There are so many arising music artist today who wish to be in HER SHOES? The Music Business comes with its ups and downs and if you love music with all your HEART, STICK it OUT! I wonder if this woman went to college or some type of school? Maybe if she did, then she could fall back on the second thing that she loves to do and maybe come back to music when she KNOWS SHE IS READY? But you know what, there might not be another chance for her to SHINE? Someone else might take her spot and be in the SPOTLIGHT? I don't understand?
She is very talented, beauitful, and has a gift that God gave her? This woman sung all her life as a little girl and made it to the show "Apollo"? A lot of people don't even get the chance to do that either? I will pray for her and maybe she might come to her senses and continue to sing? Maybe, when she comes back, Jazmine will sing some "UP LIFTING" songs and "LOVE SONGS" instead of bustin up some damn windows then she will make some hits?
