Anita Baker is readying a new CD that will bow on Blue Note Records later this year.
The 52-year-old singer, best known for hits like 'Rapture,' 'Sweet Love' and 'Giving You the Best That I Got,' is heading to Nashville to record her ninth CD.
"I'm going to Nashville to mix it up, shake it and see what comes out," said Baker.
The eight-time Grammy winner is slated to work with George Duke, Nathan East and Daniel Moore on the CD, her first since the 2005 holiday CD, 'My Christmas Fantasy.'
"They still know how to make a record in analog," Baker said of her producing trio.
The Toledo, Ohio-bred singer, who now resides in Detroit, also has a collaboration with rapper Snoop Dogg on the album. The song is a version of Curtis Mayfield's 'Give You My Love' that the singer promises "is going to raise eyebrows."
"I'm turning it up in a lot of ways," Baker added.
Prior to heading to Nashville, the divorced mother of two will be one of the headliners at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 25.

Yes, I am very excited for a new CD from Ms. Baker. She is a timeless singer and beauty. I do cringe a little when they team up with these rappers, but I know it will be in good taste. Love her.

I have waited sooo long for this. Thank you ,thank you. Your voice is reminesent of Miss Cleo Lane, and a mixture Miss Shaka Khan, and Miss oh darn it I can't remember her name ( geez, I hope her spirit forgives me); she sang " Loving You " back in the 70's or 80's. I know it , just can't pull it up. The computer says...Noooo. Help everyone ! Hey, that would be a good remake song ,don't you think with a throatier voice.

I think it may be quite interesting with a rapper. Maybe someone who has a smooth voice,no super fast rapping, someone who is believable in the song. Some one maybe( a ballad singer even), whoes not in the laws radar often , preferably not at all, her rep ,you know. As far as we, the public knows and wants to know; is she's a lady and will always be a lady.

You're speaking of Minnie Riperton. Fantastic Vocalist as well. Not too many people could sing Minnie, but Anita...she could sing the "abc" and/or "mother goose" songs...I'd buy it!! Ms. Baker could do NO wrong vocally as far as I'm concerned.

Always happy to hear something new from this diva....however, I am NOT looking forward to hearing a collaboration between Anita and Snoop Dogg. Ugh. Why do the people in the industry think that singers need to have a rapper on their tracks? A true vocalist like Ms. Baker doesn't need a Snoop on her CD. Trying to sell her CDs to a younger audience is the only reason I can see for this.
