LisaRaye McCoy is finally settling back into Hollywood life after a tumultuous and highly-publicized divorce from her ex-husband, Turks and Caicos Premier Michael Misick.
The 42-year-old actress is garnering a lot of attention for her new TV One reality series, 'LisaRaye: The Real McCoy,' a show she confessed she was apprehensive about doing.
"When you're in the midst of filming the show, it's a little over whelming," she confessed to BV Buzz. "It's a little invasive and camera people everywhere and you're like, 'What did I commit to?' But the TV One people have been so excellent. They have been so on it with the marketing and so excited about the show. Their excitement made me go, 'Well wait a minute. If they believe in it then girl you are 100.' It helped me say this was the right decision, this was the right move, it was a business move and I'm excited."
Both on 'LisaRaye: The Real McCoy' and in her day-to-day life, 'The Player's Club' actress typically wears all white clothing. McCoy admits she's heard some crazy theories about her color of choice.
"It's not a method to the madness," she laughed. "It's not because it's religion. It's because one day on the weekend I went out of town and realized I had all white outfits and they looked so crisp and clean. I said can I do this for a week, a month, a year? It's been eight or nine years now. I feel like an angel."
While the former 'All of Us' star is enjoying life on reality television, she also just landed a role in an upcoming Queen Latifah-produced movie.
"I just got the part. I'm very proud of it and it's almost like 'Sex in the City.' It's about three or four young ladies embarking on a friendship with career and love. It's a strong role for me and I can't wait to start filming. They don't have a working title for it so that means you have to come back and talk to me again."
The former First Lady has not had a chance to visit Turks and Caicos in recent months. Though her marriage from the country's former premier is done, she declares she hasn't abandoned the island she once called home.
"I have
n't been back to Turks in about seven or eight months maybe. I think I'm gonna go next month. I still have a big presence there. It's not until I do an interview that allows me to know just how much I have done for Turks and Caicos. I forget sometimes because when you're in the thick of it you don't realize. I've brought the carnival that the island saw for Christmas and that was the first carnival that they had ever seen. I was just so in awe because the kids had never seen a Ferris wheel before. They never saw a slide and I was just like, 'Oh my God. I brought this to them.' There's a movie cinema that I built over there called the LRaye Cinema and I have a building named after me. I started the film festival. I helped with the music festival. I've done some things that have definitely made me proud. When they had the Hurricane Ike devastation over there I actually did a fundraiser here in LA with partners of FedEx and they helped me bring canned goods and stuffed animals and toys to the kids. Michael Misick introduced me to a life and a country that I made my home and I will never forget that. I love Turks and Caicos. Turks and Caicos is a second home to me and I will always be there to help them."
'LisaRaye: The Real McCoy' airs on Thursdays at 9pm EST on TV One.
Its premiere last week was the highest-rated and most-viewed original program in TV One history.

She has a pretty face....but she is an unloved, unhugged, gold-digging fat bitch. Her daughter is also fat. She needs a real man to kick her ass all over the place.

What a hater...you need to just shut up and don't waste our time with your juvenile comments. Someone needs to kick your ass. The only thing FAT is your head and that's from the air between your ears. I speak for all her fans and Strong Women...keep your negative B.S. to yourself. This is a forum for people with brains and legitimate opinions.

Uhm Lisa Raye didn't get the memo them people in Turks and Ciacos don't like her. They bascially said good riddance and said as a first lady she never came out and embrace or got too know the culture. I don't know where she is getting this it's like a second home.

Can she explain why she only wears white for some green?
In the words of Lunch Lady aka Cedric the Enterainer, I guess wearing white means something else these days.

Lisa Raye is such an F-List celebrity. Nobody cares about her except her. She really needs to get over herself.

This black voices blog has some the world most ignorant, vile Negroes you ever want to encounter… I mean really… First you sit here wasting time talking about Jada and Will Smith like they give a damn… (Their children) I mean how empty of you to be so full of this BS… Now Lisa Raye, well at least she’s attempting to make something of herself rather than being a miserable ass human being like most of you... Most of you are so full of yourself that you can’t see anything good for anyone else because you haven’t done shit with yourself. So that’s where all your hatred and dislike stem from... You hate your own self and God knows you can’t find anything good in any other human being so you sit there and act like you really know what’s going on in these celebrities’ lives when you can’t figure out what you are doing right now in your own life. Wake the hell up Demons, stop being too so damn miserable. Get off your tail and get a real life… Stop spreading your awful disease of misery put an end to it. I’m not speaking about an educated opinion or even a personal one that makes sense and not filled with hate that exactly what blogging is for but this demonic evil shit most of you idiots have written is just pathetic.

TIRED OF HATERS....Mission - Thank you for saying what I was thinking to all those HATERS, in such an eloquent manner. Some Black Folk are so busy putting each other down, they make themselves look ignorant. There is nothing FAT or CONCEITED about Lisa Raye. And if you look good and feel good, its o.k. to let the world know it. Have those negative people paid attention to her reality show? Did they see her sexy photo shoot? Are they blind as well as STUPID? I love her persona and what she represents...which is a Strong Black TALENTED Woman. She has a Beautiful daughter, who is not FAT and a family that loves her. I wish her much success in her return to entertainment and can't wait to see her upcoming projects. If you have nothing good to say...pray for yourself!
