Caribbean King: Tyler Perry Brings Hollywood Hoopla To The Bahamas
Tyler Perry shot his most recent film 'Why Did I Get Married Too' on the picturesque island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas.

The 40-year-old Hollywood mogul returned to the Bahamas earlier this week for a premiere of 'Why Did I Get Married Too,' which was held at the Atlantis Theater at the Atlantis, Paradise Island.

"This was really a place that I wanted to go because I discovered something that I don't think a lot of people in America know. When people think Bahamas, they think Nassau, which is a great place in the Bahamas and I think Nassau is the heartbeat of the Bahamas. But when I found some islands, I was blown away by the beauty here. I absolutely wanted to show the world that this place here is unbelievable," Perry told BV Buzz, during an interview at Ristorante Luciano in Nassau.

Tamela & David MannThe New Orleans native, who in between promoting 'Why Did I Get Married Too' has been on the road performing in his touring play 'Madea's Big Happy Family,' is also a part-time resident of the Bahamas.

"I bought a lil' place here," he laughed. "I [actually] bought a little island here. Some of the clearest waters you'll ever see. There for about a mile all around it, I can see nothing but everything in the water. It's amazing. Just clarity! So I wanted to world to see that. I don't want a bunch of them to come. Well, they can come visit, just don't move here. But I'm very proud and very inspired by this place. I come here to write. I come here to vacation and I come here to get away and unwind. I feel the pressure now because after you see the movie, you wonder if I captured enough of the beauty. There wasn't a better backdrop for this movie."

After the release of 'How Stella Got Her Grove Back' in 1998, there was a boost in tourism to Montego Bay, Jamaica particularly by African-American women who wanted to find love like Angela Bassett's character did in the film.

Perry believes 'Why Did I Get Married Too' could have the same impact on the Bahamas.

"When you see a busload, well not a busload, but when you see a plane of Black women coming over here from Alabama, then you know it worked," he offered. "What I'm hoping is, especially with Black folks, once we see this movie we'll realize that there is so much more to the Bahamas to see."

Lush Life Resort in Eleuthera

BV Buzz was hosted by the Bahamas Tourism Board for an arduous excursion to both Nassau and Eleuthera.

Media outlets traveled by private charter to the quaint island of Eleuthera and had a decadent poolside luncheon at Lush Life RSharon Leal & Michael Jai Whiteesort, which is the beachfront home where Perry actually shot 'Why Did I Get Married Too.'

The trip culminated with the actual black-tie premiere of the film at the Atlantis, marking the first time the Bahamas had hosted a movie premiere since Sidney Poitier's 'Buck and the Preacher' in 1972.

Attendees of the 'Why Did I Get Married Too' premiere paid between $150 to $250 to attend the swank affair.

'Why Did I Get Marred Too' actors Michael Jai White and Sharon Leal, 'Meet the Brown' stars David and Tamela Mann, Earving "Magic" Johnson and his wife Cookie Johnson, and Nicole Avant, the US Ambassador to the Bahamas, were among the who's who that traveled to the Caribbean for premiere.
