Reports have surfaced that 'Grey Anatomy' executive producer Shonda Rhimes and ABC have decided to let Emmy-winning actress Katherine Heigl out of her contract so that she can leave the popular drama.
BV Buzz wrote an open letter to Rhimes last year begging her to let Heigl out of her contract since the ungrateful actress had been publicly griping about the series in the press.
(Read: 'Dear Shonda Rhimes: Can You Let Katherine Heigl Go, Please!')
Apparently Heigl had been asking to be released from her contract for almost three years.
The 31-year-old actress supposedly wants to focus now on her movie career.
Heigl was supposed to return to the set of 'Grey's Anatomy' to resume production two weeks ago but didn't. She had been out on maternity leave, as she has a newly adopted daughter.
Industry insiders are reporting that the 'Knocked Up' star likely won't return to the show at all to wrap up her storyline and now writers are brainstorming about how to deal with her exit from the show.
ABC will not comment on the matter.

Katherine is not all that great. Recall David Caruso NYPD years? Yes he's back, however it took years to become a household name again. Big bad move Katherine, good for Grey's. Never keep someone when they want to leave. That is true in all relationships.

Agreed...I don't think she added anything to the show. I haven't missed her at all. I had hoped the show would have killed her off when she contributed to the demise of Isaah Washington. He is so much more talented than she is. Bring him back!!

Not only that, but how do you expect to land good work when you repeatedly speak negative of writers and co-workers. She basically said that her acting would be better if their were better writers. What goes around goes around, and I am not a Grey's fan, I preferred E.R., but just from reports I knew it was a top rated show. But I guess that was not enough for her.
Wasn't her last movie called 'Knocked Up'...where she screwed some guy the same night she met him and ended up pregnant? Hmmm is that all she is good for? Screwing people around?

I didn't know there was maternity leave for people that adopt; I thought maternity leave were those that actually did the labor. well that's what she gets, exactly what she asked for.

Now I can start watching again. I'm elated that she's leaving. I stopped watching because of her. They should have let her go as soon as she asked. I will not watch any movie she's in even if there are other greater actors/actresses.

Well I've been watching Grey's since day one. I totally agree with tvwatcher and sheryl. To me she doesn't make or break the show. Actually I'm loving the story line with Dr Webber and the fact that they have someone for Bailey. She'll be back on tv before you know she made a couple of movies and let it go to her head.

I stop watching this show when SR listen to all the back stage none sense and fired I. Washington. I haven't watch the show since and will never watch another show she has anything to do with.
