BV Buzz was surprised to learn that ABC Family has canceled its hit drama, 'Lincoln Heights.'
The show's star Russell Hornsby shared the news with BV Buzz at an NAACP Image Awards pre-gala last week; however The Walt Disney owned cable channel announced on Jan. 29 that it would not renew the series.
Incidentally, 'Lincoln Heights' took home a trophy for Outstanding Drama Series at the NAACP Image Awards, beating out 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'Cold Case,' 'HawthoRNE' and 'The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency!'
'Lincoln Heights' debuted in 2007 and aired for four seasons. The show starred Hornsby, Nicki Micheaux, Erica Hubbard, Mishon Ratliff and Rhyon Brown.
The series followed a Los Angeles police officer and his family as he uprooted them from the suburbs to the former inner-city neighborhood where he grew up.
Music stars like Angie Stone and Trey Songz guest-starred on the drama, which currently airs in re-runs on the cable network TV One.

I really like this show. It will be another decade before we see another show of this caliber.

Sadly, this does not surprise me. ABC has a history of cancelling decent dramas. Also, when it comes to shows about and starring Black people, they will only stay on if they have a buffoonish quality. That mess that Tyler Perry has on TBS will run for years while shows like this will be cancelled after a season or two.

I agree with Wanda. I really liked that show and it was a family show. I am sad to see them go. That is one thing me and my family enjoyed doing together is sitting around the tv and watchng Lincoln Heights. I think I am going to leave ABC alone all together

I love this show....is there any chance that BET might pick the show up and keep it going. It is one of the few family oriented shows that me and my children can watch together. I would happily trade Secret life of the american teenager for more of Lincoln Heights!

Another positive show about a positive black family gone. White America has The Bachelor and we have Flavor Flav along with the Love of Ray J. The writing is on the wall folks.

I found the show to be intertaining on so many levels. The story line of each episode had very strong content. The character's were realistic and you could relate them to someone you see everyday. I would have loved to continue watching new epidsoeds as the character's grew up. Cancelling this show was not a good idea at all.

I loved season 1. Season 2 irked me. I know this is melofamilydrama but damn does everything have to happen to this family? Come on let's try to make some sense of it all. The CSI Unit, couldn't solve the crime but the father found the evidence and solved the crime all by himlonesome. Yeah ok.

An excellent show and it's a shame that ABC Disney is cancelling. It's typical of how the "Executives" in power who make these decisions are so out of touch with what viewers enjoy.
