BV Buzz has learned exclusively that 'Real Housewives of ATL' cast member Kandi Burruss has inked a new recording contract with Asylum Records.
The 33-year-old singer, who formerly recorded with the R&B quartet Xscape, finalized the deal with Asylum on Monday.
"I'm really excited about my new deal and releasing my CD to the masses. People got to hear some of my new music on the 'Real Housewives' show, but I've got so many more hits that I can't wait to put out," Kandi told me.
Viewers saw on the 'Real Housewives of ATL' that Kandi had been negotiating a record deal with Capitol Records. Ultimately, the recording contract fell apart in the time between when the season finale taped and when the show's reunion special aired.
"After my Capital situation didn't work out, I released my EP on iTunes and it performed very well. But now I'm excited about dropping my full-length CD in 2010, because its been almost 10 years since I've put out a solo record," she expressed, before adding: "I guess I didn't realize it had been that long!"
Kandi's new CD, 'B.L.O.G.,' will be released in late February 2010.
The CD will be led by the first single, 'Fly Above,' which has already had a significant impact at urban radio outlets as a digital-only release.
Asylum Records is distributed by Warner Bros. Records and is also home to rapper Gucci Mane, singer Ginuwine, rap duo New Boyz and Slim of 112.
The Atlanta-bred singer's last solo CD, 'Hey Kandi,' was released in 2000 and featured the hit record 'Don't Think I'm Not.'
Kandi has also penned numerous singles for artists like Destiny's Child, TLC, Whitney Houston, N'Sync, Pink and Usher.
Her work as a songwriter made her the first woman ever to win the coveted "Songwriter of the Year" at ASCAP's Rhythm & Soul Awards in 2000.

I'm in music, but I'm a TAD BIT confused. Couldn't she have put her own CD out on her own label? Is that NOT a sign of "I'm not good enough to put out music?" I mean - she put out KIM'S song - right? This is yet another LMFAO at the pathetic lives of the ATL housewives. I thought Kandi was different. I guess not.

First things first: Congratulations Ms. Burruss!!!
When did Kandi ever say that she had her own label? Maybe i, along with the rest of the viewing audience, missed that episode. But, since you're "in music" we'll just have to wait until "your" album drops so that "you" can show us how it's done.
Hurry up i'm holding my breath here...lol

Congratulations, I guess!
Kandi proved with Kim that you don't have to have any "real" talent to record a song. It makes me really question her credibility. Don't get me wrong, I like Kandi...but as a songwriter! Her voice is raspy and weak. Seriously, did you see the Soul Train awards show where she sang with Brian McNight? A hot mess!!
On the reunion show, she looked really stupid singing backup for Kim's non singin' ass. Grammy winners don't sing backup for tone deaf, auto tuned, non rhythm havin' users like Kim. Her song is only popular in the gay community.
I am also a fan of the show and I saw where she was trying to start her own "label" producing other artists. What happened with that?
