After the music site DaGospelTruth.com revealed that several gospel artists were having extramarital affairs, Christian record label Cross Movement Records (CMR) announced that it had suspended rapper Da T.R.U.T.H. (whose real name is Emanuel L. Lambert, Jr.).
(For details on the scandal, read 'Love Triangle Takes on a Whole New Meaning! The Story Unfolds About Tye Tribbett & Da T.R.U.T.H.')
The Philadelphia-bred rapper's alleged extramarital affair with the wife of his friend and fellow gospel singer had been the topic of discussion on the gospel rumor mill for several weeks before the Grammy nominee announced his hiatus from the industry.
Da T.R.U.T.H. essentially confirmed the speculation when he posted a statement on his personal Web site, www.DaTruth.net, announcing that he was taking "a sabbatical from music ministry and teaching" due to a "moral indiscretion" in his "personal life."
CMR has now released a statement announcing that the strict Bible-based music label will not permanently sever ties with Da T.R.UT.H. but would temporarily institute a "suspension of the promotion and forwarding of" of the two-time Stellar Award winner.
The statement continued: "While obedience to the Word of God is the high standard for all who name the name of Christ, for the Christian leader, the standards and the consequences are even greater. We at CMR plead for your prayers for our brother Da Truth whom we sincerely love. We also ask for your prayers for his wife, his family, his Pastor, his Elders and Church during this very hard time in their lives. In addition, we both thank and applaud Da Truth for his letter of confession found on his site, as well as ours. We declare that in Da Truth's case, in light of all the circumstances, in light of the authoritative stand by which he preached, and in the case of the Christian leader, this should be the commendable example of the responsible servant."
No word from CMR or Da T.R.U.T.H. on how long the "suspension" or "sabbatical" will be.
Da T.R.U.T.H., who has taken a very public stance against non-Christian music artists – unaffectionately called "secular artists" by churchgoers -- is not the first rapper to come under fire from CMR for alleged adultery.
The label dropped rapper The Ambassador back in May and then posted a statement explaining why to fans.
"It is with much grief, severe disappointment and an overwhelming fear of the Lord that Cross Movement Records is sad to announce that we will be discontinuing the forwarding and promotion of the Artist and Minister, The Ambassador AKA William "Duce" Branch, due to recent findings of moral failure in his marriage. It is CMR's past, current and prayerfully, future position that living in moral compromise is unacceptable and never allowable in the lives of any of the ministers that we co-labor with. We continue to hold up the teachings of Christ as the standard for all Christians and especially those in Christian leadership and public ministry. Although it is a rare find these days, discipline is still one of the true marks of the true Church."

Bravo to you CMR! It's great to hear about entities that really uphold the importance of preaching and teaching God's word before the public but breaking every commandment in private. If more churches and organizations hold leaders, teachers, musicians, church officials & staff accountable for their actions, maybe they will think about the consequences before jeopardizing their family, career and reputation before the people. Everyone makes mistakes but living in sin knowingly while ministering, drives away from the church. This is a true example of hypocrisy. Too many lost souls (young and old) are out there in the world searching for the truth. Have some self control and be a transformer and not a conformer. Temptation is forever with us, but we need to practice what we preach and be examples to the next generation and take a stance on God's Word. CMR is a true transformer proving that they will not be moved and believe firmly in the Word of God. Again, bravo to you!!

Can't believe what I'm reading, but it happens. Well I'm glad Da Truth is taking a sabbatical from rapping, b/c he's not right, right now. I really liked his music. In the meantime, he has to really seek God and prayerfully get it together. He will be alright, he is a talented man. Good luck to him ad his family.

I still like his music. David was a murderer and an adulterer, yet he had a heart for GOD. Remember, Psalms are still a part of GOD's WORD. David's sins didn't change that.

I am shocked just as anyone about this. I have admired the Da Truth and his music for a few years now and my heart is broken. I know people will have field day with this and say that he is a phony and fake. They will say that it is all a scam! But what this man preaches is the true gospel, that I know. He has been a blessing in my life and you can not fake that! The gospel is powerful and cuts through our all of mess (believe me we all have mess in our lives) and God shows himself graceful and able to use us despite our shortcomings. I will no way excuse the sins that have been committed but I WILL not condemn him either because I too struggle and fall but yet God so lovingly stretches his mercy to me. My heart and earnest prayer goes out to Emmanuel and his family. I pray that his wife forgives him and that God gives him the strength to forgive himself. I plead with everyone to pray and be humbled by this and not haughty and self-righteous as if were the perfect image of Jesus ourselves. Let us support him as a brother in the faith and embrace him with the same forgiveness that God has given to us that are saved. I love these brothers and pray for full restoration. Be humble

Why is it that media has never given any of these artists ANY type of exposure until something negative comes out? CMR and other record labels have existed sooo long doing good works way before this happened, and now there is exposure. We love tearing each other down and its a shame

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE! This is the devil tryin to discredit people who have served God for so long, and then fall, because NO ONE is perfect but Jesus, and NOW they are bashed upon. The Bible says that there is none righteous, no, NOT ONE! As a Christian, and a person who knows a lot of people who know Emmanuel (who is a nice guy), temptation comes upon everybody. God forgives us everyday for stuff that we do, how we treat each other, our husbands, our children, wives. And knowing the type of guy that he is (he's a REALLY nice and humble guy), I'm sure it wasn't a long term thing (if there was anything. Why aren't there articles about Rap artist who not only have children everywhere, and brag about it. But degrade women as a whole? But the aretist who try to live right, and then fall, and get back up again? The hypocrisy is in the AUTHOR OF THIS ARTICLE!!!!!!!!!! You are the HYPOCRITE because YOU ARE NOT PERFECT!!!!! Neither are people in church (me), ONLY JESUS IS!!! Take this article down please. You are degrading yourself!

I agree that the mainstream media only focuses on the people of GOD when one of them falls. It was the same for JESUS, so we shouldn't be surprised. However, we who are members of the Body of CHRIST need to do some housecleaning and make sure we are upright before GOD and man. The example set by CMR and Emmanuel lets the world know that we will correct ourselves first in CHRIST. And that will bring honor to the LORD.

aye to everyone out there you guys are messed up for judging Him. the Bible clearly says that a wise man falls 7 times but gets up righteous. its not about the fall but its about the get up. thats why it clearly says that you shouldnt look at the person but the words they speak. as we are getting closer and closer to the coming of the Lord the temptation and every evil thing thats roaming the earth is getting stronger. im not saying its alright with what he did, but what i am saying is that you should all forgive Him. man Da Truth i love you man and anytime you need prayer hit me up 5627126028 and ill have my church pray as well. look forward and know that we were forgiven and God sees all and knows all He knew you was going to fall, He already forgave you at the cross so get up and keep it pushing. kingdom divided against itself cant stand so what do we do we pick our brother up and let Him know we still have a war to win. one battle you lost but the war we will win. remember there is no condemnation that is in Christ Jesus. so for all you who is trying to judge Him how many times did you fall. how many times did you lie, cheat, back bite, gossip, slander someones name, etc. read galatioms chap. 3 all those things can send you to Hell to so dont just point your finger look at how many is pointing back at you and from my count its 4. Da Truth keep it pushing man love you.
