Late last week a report surfaced online claiming that Grammy-winning R&B singer Mya (full name Mya Harrison) was expecting her first child.
The erroneous story originated in the e-mail distributed gossip report 'Atlanta Gossip' by Tiffany Long.
The e-zine not only claimed that the 28-year-old singer was pregnant, but further alleged that Jared Najjar, the son of Atlanta real estate tycoon Lee Najjar, had fathered the unborn child.
A rep for Mya quickly contacted BV Buzz to clear up the story.
"This information is completely false. Mya is not pregnant. She doesn't even know any of these people. Every part of the story is made up," said publicist Neeta Wooten of Ideal Public Relations.
In music news, Mya hasn't released a CD in the U.S. since 2003's 'Moodring.'
The Washington, DC-bred singer parted ways with Interscope Records after the release of 'Moodring' and signed a recording contract with Motown Records in 2006.
The star of the film 'Chicago' was to release a CD called 'Liberation' on Motown in 2007, but the project was shelved and the singer ultimately lobbied to be let go from her contract because of "creative differences."
On Dec. 3, 2008, Mya released a new album called 'Sugar & Spice' exclusively in Japan

Mya was a background dancer in the Film and then was to do a short run on Broadway as Roxie Heart until she broke her foot.

Yeh i feel she's pretty washed up. You don't sell ONE CD and then cite "creative differences" as if you KNOW what you're doing. I bought her "Moodring" for my son, he listened to it a few times, got bored with it... and now it gathers dust... I think... IDK he might've thrown it away... old.

In the article the author writes of Mya,"...the star of the FILM Chicago..." which Mya CLEARLY was not. If she had a short run as the STAR of the SHOW on Broadway, that's another story. Whoever wrote this needs to check his/her facts and clean up their journalism in a big way.

Mya sang the background for "Ghetto Superstar," and she also sang a verse in "Lady Marmalade," from Moulin Rouge (which also featured Xtina, Pink, and Lil Kim in it). She also released her own CD but I really can't remember any songs from that.

how have ya'll never heard of Mya. yeah she hasn't done anything in a while but she's a singer. "lets go there" rugrats theme. "moving On" hit single, "my bodies like whoa" "case of the X" i might be the youngest person commenting on this page. im 24 and alot of my peers have heard of mya. and if you heard Lady marmalade then you definatley heard mya. That grammy winning single was on top of the charts for weeks and with artist like Missy elliot, Christina aguilera, Pink, and lil kim, mya wouldnt have been on the bill if she was a nobody.
