Season three 'American Idol' winner Fantasia Barrino's
According to reports, the 24-year-old mother of one's $1.3 million home on Bevington Place will go on auction on Jan. 12, 2009 unless she can make the mortgage payments.
The eight-time Grammy nominee and NAACP Image Award winner bought the 6,232-square-foot, pond-front mansion with six bedrooms in March 2007.
If the former star of Broadway's 'The Color Purple' is unable to make the payments before the auction date, she won't be homeless however.
The R&B star also owns a second home on Charlotte's Seton House Lane that was purchased for $740,000 in July 2004.
Fantasia released an autobiography titled 'Life Is Not a Fairy Tale' in Sept. 2005. The tome was later adapted into a hit movie for the Lifetime network.
Back in June the singer parted ways with 19 Entertainment over "creative differences."
Fantasia received a 2009 Grammy nomination for her duet with Jennifer Hudson on "I'm His Only Woman," which is featured on
UPDATED: Fantasia's home is not being lost due to missed mortgage payments. Instead the Florida-based lender Broward Energy Partners is attempting to recoup the debt any way it can for the home.
According to court documents filed by Broward Energy Partners, Fantasia paid back $10,000 of a $68,000 loan she received from Broward Energy Partners to pay taxes in 2006, but was sued in January for the full amount.
A judge ruled in October that Broward Energy Partners could go after the money, plus 8 percent interest and court costs, to the tune of $65,541.
A rep for the singer's label, J Records, had no comment, and a sheriff's office spokesman stated that her team has not been in touch with Fantasia since the auction date was set.

My Fantasia is still doing her thang. I remember when she was on American Idol...It was a great moment. I cried when she won. I hate that she might lose her house. Bush mess stuff up. I still will buy her music. I think her music gets better and better. Sometimes I do have to say her hair is less than it could be. I do hair so she can ask me advice . I would do her hair for free. When is her new album dropping? Anbody know? Still jamming Baby Mama..."Drama" lol

Well I'm glad she won't be homeless. but there is maybe some money issues. With all this financial hurt out here she only need one house anyway. She can only live in one at a time. Should donate the house as a home for displaced youth. She'll get a nice lump on a tax return. America still aint lost that at least. I hope she come out with some ol' bomb record boy that knock the socks off, all cuz she don't want lose nothin. Cuz when you are a celebrity; mann one slip they come down on U like if U was low down when U black.

What is the deal with these athletes and celebs losing their homes?? I guess they are human too. You would think that they would have someone manage the money and assets for them.

I have come to the conclusion that all of these celebrities that don't get their homes foreclosed on, or file bankruptcy, or don't pay their income taxes must be retarded.
Before they made it big they were paying their bills, and filing their income tax returns on time, but now all of a sudden they decide to stop because they are a celebrity and they don't have to do these things anymore.
No Pity Party for you Fantasia, and no Pity Parties for Scott Storch, Damon Dash, Wesley Snipes, or Ed McMahon either.

They need to stop showing off. She is acting like these rappers. I just found out last week that some of the rappers rent a mansion and a lot of fancy cars just for the tv show cribs then they take it back. That is crazy. I am a big time fan of fantasia. her and jennifer hudson should have been the last two standing up there on american idol. She showed out with let's give em something to talk about. She should have stuck with one house and paid cash if she could afford to do that and after that just keep the taxes and homeowner's fees paid up and she good to go.

Look, I will admitt it is hard to come into money- a lot of money when you have little. The thing people any and all people must realize is that -YOU NEED TO BE THE RESPONSIBLE PARTY! When you come into a large sum of money, DO NOT WALK BUT RUN AWAY FROM YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS FOR AT LEAST ONE MONTH IN A SECRET LOCATION! During that time hire a lawyer or financal consultant/manager or someone eho can advise you and have the long run in mind! If I came into a lot of money, I would buy a home- a nice home- why would a woman and a child need 6000+ feet of house??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then I would secure my child's future, get rid of any new man in your life- view all suiters with suspicion and if you are so inclinded- make doggone sure you have an iron clad PRENUP! JENNIFER HUDSON ARE YOU LISTENING??????????
Yes we would want to do something nice for our mothers, fathers and siblings- but the line has to be drawn. If you were a sperm donor- step out of line! A father is involved in mylife and should have married my mother- but I am on a soapbox now, back to the topic at hand. If you didn't give birth to all the hangers on that will now come out of the wood work - you owe them nothing!
If nothing else put your money in the bank, and make sure you do like Oprah: DON'T ALLOW ANY CHECK TO BE WRITTEN - UNLESS YOU SIGN IT!
