R&B powerhouse Tamia is gearing up to show her vocal prowess on an upcoming live album.

The Canadian-bred singer, who's married to NBA star Grant Hill, will record her first live concert CD on Aug. 10 in Washington, DC at the famed Lincoln Theater.

"I was like, 'I haven't done a live album. Let's do a live album,'" the singer told me when I spoke to her last week.

TamiaWith the recent success of her independently released fourth CD, 'Between Friends,' Tamia believes that her opting out of the major label system has afforded her the freedom to do things like this.

"When you are independent, you have the option to make these decisions," she offered.

In the meantime, Tamia will continue to perform spot dates nationally to promote her latest single, 'Almost.'

Hollywood funnyman Wayne Brady has inked a recording contract with Peak Records/Concord Music Group for his album, 'A Long Time Coming.'

The Emmy-wiWayne Bradynning former talk show host, who has been headlining 'Making It Up' at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, will release the CD on Sept. 16.

The set will be led by the single, 'Ordinary,' an original track that was co-written by Sarah Nagourney, Welford B. Walton II and All-4-One singer Jamie Jones.

'A Long Time Coming' also features several cover songs, among them Sam Cooke's 'A Change is Gonna Come,' The Beatles' 'Can't Buy Me Love' and Stevie Wonder's 'All I Do.'

R&B boy band B5 (which stands for Breeding Five) has been dropped by Sean "Diddy" Combs' Bad Boy Entertainment.

The sibling group, made up of brothers Dustin, Kelly, Patrick, Carnell and Bryan Breeding, released two CDs on the label – 'B5' (2005) and 'Don't Talk, Just Listen' (2007).

But now the St. Petersburg, Florida-bred quintet are working on a new album and are in search of a new record deal.

Outside of their ventures from Bad Boy Entertainment, B5 have become huge on the Disney scene.

The group is regular participants in events at Disney theme parks and has developed quite a following with the tween Disney audience.

TVT Records, home to Lil' Jon, Teedra Moses, Keke Wyatt, Pitbull and the Ying Yang Twins, has been sold to digital music company The Orchard for $6 million.

Teedra Moses'BV Buzz' previously reported that TVT Records filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February of this year.

Under the terms of the purchase, The Orchard will take control of TVT's catalogue and artist contracts.

TVT Records was founded by Steve Gottlieb, who launched the label out of his New York City apartment in 1985. At its height, TVT was considered one of the top independent record labels in the .

The deal with Orchard is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.
