'The View' host Sherri Shepherd covers the latest issue of Precious Times magazine. In an eight-page feature story in the Christian women's lifestyle publication, the 41-year-old comedienne shares candid revelations about her faith, including her conversion from being a Jehovah's Witness to Christianity.
"Before I converted to Christianity, I was a Jehovah's Witness. In 1993, my mother was dying from diabetic complications. My sister was heavy into drugs, and we would have to go and get her from crack houses. I was in a very physically abusive relationship. I was sleeping with a lot of guys and had more abortions than I would like to count. I had very low self-esteem and just wanted to die. I felt if someone killed me, it wouldn't even make a difference. But God showed me that it would make a difference," she told the glossy.
The Chicago-native, who is currently embroiled in a divorce and custody battle with her husband Jeffrey Tarpley, also confessed that it is hard being taken to task about her faith on the live ABC talk show.
"Oh sometimes I say, 'Lord, Juanita Bynum or Joyce Myers would be so good at this table. They could lay hands on Barbara Walters and get her saved,'" she declared. "I ask the Lord, 'Why am I here?' I have to trust God when He says, 'Because I said so.'"
The former 'Less Than Perfect' star, fresh off a hosting stint at the 'Daytime Emmy Awards,' has lost more than 30 pounds after being diagnosed as a diabetic.
"One day on 'The View' I noticed that we had a lot of big girls in the audience," she recalled. "I told them to stick around because we were going to have a large woman fashion show. They looked at me and said, 'Sherri, you are not a big girl.' I was so embarrassed. However, a lot of women look at me and say I give them hope. I really want them to be healthy. We carry sixty extra pounds on our joints when we're overweight. Some things are just not okay."
In addition to hosting 'The View,' Shepherd will voice two characters in 'Madagascar's' sequel, 'Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.' She also appears in Lee Daniels' forthcoming film, 'Precious,' which stars Mo'Nique, Lenny Kravitz and Paula Patton.

This means everlasting life, their taking in Knowledge of the One and Only True God and His Son Jesus Christ.
John 17:3 - Does that sound like Jesus is God to you?
God Loved the World So Much that he Sent his only Begotten Son Jesus so who ever excercises faith in him would have everlasting Life.
John 3:16 - Does that sound like Jesus is God to you?
When you have someone and their Son, they are two different people. Jehovan and Jesus. Makes sense doesn't it?

From all the behavior she has shared I'm positive that Sherri was never really a Jehovah's witness. She may have been involved with studying the religion. and they are CHRISTIANS. Please make these things clear. Otherwise this is considered defamation, right??

What a great testimony for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And for those who say that Jehovah's Witness are Christians, you should do a better job of understanding the differences between the Christian faith and JW's. JW's deny the Trinity and believe that Jesus was created (not part of the eternal Godhead). The Trinity and the eternal nature of Christ are core to Christian beliefs. Saying JW's are Christians is like saying chicken fried steak is poultry. It may have some appear to be similar but once you dig it, they are not the same.

Last time I checked JW's were Christians. The article must be missing something . I can not see how being promiscous, murdering unborn babies, and having a crack addicted sister has to do with being a JW.

The reason Sherri said she converted is because Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT Christians!! She was a JW but had no power in her life over sin, she was bound by it and had no deliverance over her circumstances. Once she gave her life to Jesus Christ, He set her free and gave her power. Christian means Christ-like and Jehovah's Witnesses are not. In fact, they don't even believe in Christ for Who He is, the Second Person of the Trinity and God Incarnate "Immanuel God With Us." Thank you Jesus for setting Sherri free!!

Way to be a discple girl! The Lord will surely bless you for your forthright manner. We ALL continue to pray for our friends and family members who are not saved...........we want to see all of them in Heaven. Sadly, so many people think it is "good works" that gets them there. God bless you! Renee

I'm offended that Sherry is concerned about Barbara Walters being saved. That is very offensive as Barbara is Jewish. It's nice that she wants to look out for her but how dare she decide that someone else's religion is wrong????????????

Sorry to have to tell you but Barbara is already saved, she don`t believe in superstition called religion. She does black people so much harm by being what sterotypes think about blacks. Ribs, sex, and drinking all send her over the edge. She has no hope.
