Singer Omarion is no longer on Columbia Records.
A source at the label confirmed to the BV Buzz that the Sony imprint decided to drop the former B2K lead singer.
Omarion (real name: Omari Ishmael Grandberry) signed as a solo artist to Columbia Records after B2K broke up in December 2003. His boy band was actually signed to Sony's Epic division.
The 23-year-old singer released two solo CDs for the record company, including 2005's 'O' and 2006's '21.' Both albums were certified gold.
In December of 2007, Omarion partnered with rapper Bow Wow on the CD, 'Face Off.' To date, the set has sold 341,137 un
its according to SoundScan.
As an actor, Omarion starred in the films 'You Got Served,' 'Fat Albert,' 'Feel The Noise' and the straight-to-DVD release, 'Somebody Help Me.'
He was also a series regular on Marques Houston's former UPN sitcom, 'Cuts.'
No word on what the singer's plans are for life after Columbia Records.
My source speculated that if former Sony executive David McPherson fills the late Ronnie Johnson's job as Executive Vice President and head of Urban Music at Capitol Records, its likely Omarion could end up there. McPherson was responsible for B2K's success at Epic.
Another option could be Motown Records.
Omarion's management and production company, The Ultimate Group (TUG) has a deal with that label and released Omarion's good friend and business partner Marques Houston's last two CDs through Motown.
A rep for Columbia Records did not respond to my request for comment at press time.

I'm really sorry to hear this. Omarion is very talented. I guess with Chris Brown being the big man on campus there no room for Omarion, Which in my opinion Omarion is a better singer and dancer. Hopefully things will workout, you still have a fan here Omarion.

I'm glad he's been dropped. He tried way too hard to be sexy. That brand wasn't working well for him.

Omarion, hey it's time to grow and do something different. You are a good singer/actor/entertainer. I guess it's time for you to find the right record label for you! In my opinion, I feel if Omarion wants to FOCUS on his MUSIC CAREER, he needs to get away from film. If you want to continue acting, focus your full attention to that ONLY for right now.
In my opinion, Omarian was probably OVERLOADED with acting, singing on other artists albums, and working on his music? Omarion, take some time off and take a break. When you decide what direction to go, everything will work out for you!
"Good Luck To You"!

My prayers goes to Omarion. I really feel bad for him. This time. It's from the bottom of my heart. I really do feel bad for him. I was a long time fan of B2k. It really happens what's goes around comes back around. Omarion wasn't really my favorite but I would have stay longer with Columbia. But i wasn't surprised. I knew it. I knew it all along. If Omarion have listened to advice i mean really listen, he would have last long in the company. For one thing, Omarion should have left T.U.G. a long time ago and hang with Fizz, Boog, and Raz. But no he left them and after what he did to them. On top of that, Bad enough Omarion had bad management but bad partnership as well. Come on, BOW WOW??? That's bad. That's really bad. That's why the decided to take the scream tour away from him. Bad enough Omarion did music with Bow Wow then he hangs around him as well??? The longer Omarion hangs with Bow Wow, his attitude starts to rub off on him. And please don't with all them rumors. Especially about them too. It was cute at first but now it's getting supspicious make anyone wants to wonder. That's really bad. Anywayz, my prayers goes out to him and along with T.U.G. family and maybe something will work out for him.
