Gospel Notes: SWV's Coko, DeWayne Woods, Myron Butler & Others Hit The Road

Singer DeWayne Woods, Coko of SWV and Myron Butler will hit the road this spring to co-headline on 'The Hope Nation Tour.'

The trio of contemporary gospel stars will be joined on the road by Jonathan Nelson, newcomer Tarsha McMillan-Hamilton and Ted Winn (formerly of Ted & Sheri).

'Hope Nation' kicks off on March 24 and runs through May 18.

The tour is sponsored by the Gospel Music Channel, World Vision and The Ellis Verne Agency.

Myron ButlerFresh off his three big wins at the 2008 Stellar Awards, Woods took home trophies in the categories of 'Best New Artist,' 'Male Vocalist of the Year' and 'Urban Inspiration Single or Performance of the Year.'

Woods, a protégé of gospel great Donald Lawrence, had a hit with the single, 'Let Go,' which even earned its songwriter P.J. Morton a Stellar Award for 'Song of the Year.'

One-time R&B powerhouse Coko's gospel debut 'Grateful' landed her two Stellar Award nominations, as well as 2008 Grammy nomination for 'Best Contemporary R&B Gospel CD of the Year.'

Jonathan NelsonThe album featured Fantasia, Faith Evans and Lil Mo on the song 'Endow Me,' a remake of The Clark Sister's hit.

Butler landed four Stellar Awards at the 2007 ceremony for his debut, 'Set Me Free.'

Ted WinnA former member of God's Property and sought-after songwriter/producer, Butler released his sophomore project 'Stronger' in 2007.

Nelson has earned a reputation as a prolific songwriter and landed his first Stellar Award for penning the Donald Lawrence hit 'Healed.'

The Baltimore, Maryland native and his group Purpose just released their first major label debut via Integrity Records, 'Right Now Praise.'

Tarsha McMillan HamiltonAfter earning a following in the two-time Stellar Award winning duo Ted & Sheri, singer Winn is embarking on a solo career now.

Winn, who also sings with Richard Smallwood & Vision, has been featured on recent projects by Youthful Praise and Bishop Eddie Long's New Birth Total Grace Choir.

McMillan-Hamilton is the wife of neo-soul singer Anthony Hamilton and has toured in his background ensemble for years.

She often performs a solo gospel number during his show and is readying her debut gospel offering.
